Design Research for a Global Payments App
In the fast-moving world of digital payments, small design choices can make or break user trust. One of our clients, a leading technology and analytics consultancy, partnered with us to refine the India interface of a global payments app. The product team was working in short sprints and needed quick, directional insights that could be integrated almost in real time.
The research had to match the speed of design iterations. Stakeholders were distributed across time zones, and the user base spanned multiple languages and devices- each with its own nuances in navigation and comfort with digital payments.
Insight Troop built a rapid testing model that blended qualitative insight with digital validation. We conducted prototype evaluations on Miro and Figma, followed by quick-turn usability sessions with real users across different regions and languages. While moderators captured behavioral and emotional cues, AI-based attention maps helped the design team visualize how users actually interacted with screens. The findings were synthesized overnight and shared with design leads before the next sprint began.
We explored three core aspects: onboarding experience and first-time trust, transaction flow and perceived control, and visual hierarchy in guiding attention and comfort during payment steps.
Simplifying the onboarding copy improved task completion rates by 32 percent. Users preferred progressive disclosure over information-heavy screens. A few small repositioning changes, like shifting “Help” and “Rewards,” improved navigation clarity. Regional language testing revealed subtle but important trust cues that differed across states.
In just ten days, the client had a clear, data-backed roadmap for interface improvements. The design team reduced iteration cycles by nearly half, moving from guesswork to confident, evidence-led decisions. The result was faster rollouts, fewer revisions, and a user journey that felt intuitive and trustworthy.
Insight Troop’s work delivered what every design team looks for-speed, accuracy, and practical design intelligence that drives adoption.
